Hailing from Göttingen, Germany, and formed in late 2011, Abest take grea tpride in culling to get her atmospheric Post-Metal and Death-Metal twinged Hardcore to make a nightmare hellscape so dark, no light can shine in. Abest is a unique beast, a trifecta of groove, atmosphere, and dissonance, refusing to be locked into the obvious comparisons. Although recalling much of the Post-Metal greats with haunting repetition, you’ll also hear contemplative warped melodies and also full-on assault of kickass grooves. Their "Demo" got fully remastered and now gets a proper vinyl release. Built around shuddering crystalline plucking, tracks shift from ominous doom plodding to pummeling riffs with flourishes of scathing dissonance that writhe and squirm with filthy earworms. Ruthless Hardcore and blackened crossovers, shifting from half-time beats and pummeling blast beatswhile riffs blast with shocking organicity. Abest takes what some might find to be a relatively limited sonic palette and use it to create brilliantly crafted songs. Despite being a demo, not only the presentation is exceptional but also the music and the sound. ABEST are a band that is pushing the limitations typically associated with Post-Metal. It is an indispotable reaffirmation of their sound, a masterful stew of Metal and Hardcore. Undeniably precise and heavy, the music sounds like a wrecking ball, slowly but steadily hovering towards the torn and rotten walls of civilisation. For fans of Cult Leader, Dead In The Dirt and Primitive Man.
